"A book on the computer?
                  That's retarded.  I use the
                    computer for one thing...
                   porno."
-Ace Groves Chapter 7
Tales of a White Trash Landlord
(Scroll Down Dude)

Introduction

I started writing this book as a form of therapy.  I’m not joking.  I actually started seeing a therapist throughout my first year of investing in real estate.  I remember telling him about events from my week, and he would roll his eyes and take notes.

“Dan, he would say in a parenting voice, In order for our talks to be successful in helping you deal with your feelings, we must have a basic foundation of trust.”

“Sure, I understand.”

“You see Dan there is really no reason for you to exaggerate your stories because I’m on your side here.  I want you to feel better.”  He said with a warm smile.

“You think I’m making all this shit up.”

“No, not exactly.  Please don’t get defensive, but every job has its faults.  Real estate I’m sure is no different.  However, I know lots of people get wealthy owning property.  I want you to focus on the positive outcomes of these events.  The more you exaggerate them, the farther we are from the intended goal.”

“I can’t believe you think I’m making all this up!”  Over the next few months I would carry a camera with me, and Dr Maurice slowly started to shift.  He was starting to know tenants by name, and wanting to see pictures that backed up my stories.  He actually admitted being quite entertained from our time together.  He encouraged me to journal some of the more ridiculous events, and slowly over the years it has become what you are about to read.  It’s totally different than any other real estate book out there.

These stories will teach you more than any seminar or 'get rich quick' book on the market.  You new investors won't believe it.  You old timers will be nodding your head up and down through every story.  Sit back, relax, and enjoy the 'REAL' in Real Estate Investing.
